Loose leaf teas

We specialise in traditionally produced (orthodox), loose leaf teas. These are produced from the highest quality tea bushes and, with the exception of Earl Grey and the traditional Chinese jasmine, rose, magnolia and smoked teas are sold to you as nature intended. Whether you prefer black, green, oolong, yellow or white tea, whether you are interested in teas from China, Japan, India, Ceylon, or one of the “newer” tea growing territories, we offer you a choice of carefully chosen teas with full descriptions and brewing instructions. Where available, although not compromising on taste, we have chosen organic and fair-trade teas.

Good quality loose leaf tea does not have to be expensive. In particular our green, white and oolong teas represent excellent value in their superior flavour and in the way they improve with multiple infusions.

Herbal and Fruit Infusions

We know that drinking teas made from loose leaves brewed in a teapot is the best way to enjoy a tea to its full potential, but we are also aware that one does not always have the resources to prepare it. For that reason we sell "empty" teabags that you can fill yourself with our finest teas.

Renowned for their therapeutic benefits, most of the tisanes (infusions which do not stem from the tea bush, Camelia Sinensis) at The English Tearoom are free from added aroma and are caffeine free. We are particulary happy that our fruit and herbal infusions come from Ronnefeld, a company which we consider to be the very best at producing these types of infusions.

We are also delighted to offer top quality teas and tisanes in pyramid form from Tea Forté along with the much-loved "Teavelopes" from Ronnefeldt.

Teaware

People have been drinking tea for five thousand years. During this time a wide range of utensils for making and serving tea has evolved. While some of the items featured in our designer range are almost too beautiful to use, we also offer you an exquisite and varied range of teapots and kitchenware which reflects the history and culture of tea and is priced so that you can enjoy your perfect cup of tea to its full potential every day.

Enjoying tea is a contemplative process which lends itself to appreciating beautiful objects. At The English Tearoom we have a wonderful collection of porcellain from Wedgwood and Royal Albert.
